Are fake nails for me?

I can't stand short nails, and every time my nails get to the length I like them at they all brake off. Is there something I can do to keep them long and can I put on fake nails til they grow out a bit?Are fake nails for me?
fake nails are HORRRRRRIBLE for the nails underneath them. They fall/rip of usually taking some of the real nail with them.

Just make your nails stronger %26amp; healthier so they grow faster and they won't brake

1.This is the simplest, push your cuticles back everyday

2.Olive Oil!! (Extra Virgin) Soak your nails in olive oil every day or every other night. This will strengthen your nails %26amp; help them grow. Warm up the olive oil to as hot as you can stand it (microwave, like 20 seconds in mine) Then soak for like 20-30min and push it in your cuticles, just play with your fingers while soaking. This works GREAT.

3.Nail filing, using a nail file instead of cutting your nails will do a lot, makes them look a lot nicer %26amp; stronger.

4.Hand massage, it supposedly helps your nerve endings or something, but it helps finger nail growth

5.dont type with your nails, its just bad for them, use your finger tips instead

6.Put lotion on your nails, they need to be hydrated just like your skin

7.Go to CVS (or a store like it) and look in the nail care aisle, they sell nail strengthener, nail grower, %26amp; stuff like that.

hope this helpsAre fake nails for me?
As a nail tech I can assure you that proper filing and maintenance is important for nail growth. When you file use an emery board and slide from corner to center with one stroke and then the other side.Do not saw. That will cause your nails to split. Keep a nail strengthener on your nails by itself or with 2coats of color.Go to Sally's Beauty Supply and purchase professional products.Let me re-assure you that contrary to belief it is not the ';fake nails'; that make your nails thin or tear them up.It is when not taken care of properly when having them that causes all the problems. When nails are taken off willy nilly without a professional removal then yes, some of your natural nail will come off with it. That is what thins the nail. They are not bad for you. If you get them, go to someone who will tell you how to take care of them properly.Asian salons don't usually do that. And 2, if you get them and then want them off, have them removed by a pro.Your nails will have no damage to them.
If you let your nails grow out under fake nails as soon as you take the fake nails off your real nails will break.

If you are talking about the do it yourself fake nails like Lee Press On Nails (do they even still have those???) - don't do it. They look totally fake and gross.

If you are talking about having acrylic or silk nails done over your own nails, be aware that they rough up the surface of your real nails so much it actually will make them weaker when you take them off.

If you want fake nails, have them professionally applied and maintained regularly. Short nails is way less ugly than poorly maintained fake nails. Be sure to budget for this expense, it can get pricy to keep your nails up.

Not that I have ever done this myself...as an artist the funtion of my fingers is much more important than their appearance, and I keep my nails real short. But I have lots of friends and coworkers who go that route...
Use revivanail. It's about $17, but it will make your nails much stronger if you use it like it suggests. If you get fake nails, they will grow quickly, but once you take them off, they will be extremely weak, so unless you plan on keeping them, you might as well not even get them.
Getting acrylic nails would mess up your nails and thin them out(after you get them off), a lot.

If your nails keep breaking off, just add a few layers of top coat and add more calcium to your diet.
I keep my nails painted all the time and they don't break as often.
