DO NOT pry, peel, bite, etc. the acrylic nails. Yes, these suggestions will get the nail off, but guess what? You will have no more natural nails! If you do, they may be sensitive, peeled, and basically crap that you will have to grow out to be normal again.

The acetone suggestions are great. BUT, instead of soaking your whole hand in a bowl of it, you should do this:

Get some tinfoil and cotton balls along with the acetone (either pure or remover with acetone in it. Pure is best and can be found at most beauty supply stores). Soak the cotton balls in the acetone and then place the cotton balls on each of your fingers (one hand at a time probably so the other is workable). Then, wrap a square of tinfoil as tightly as possible over the cotton ball on each finger. Keep these there for 20-30 mins until the acrylic softens and gets mushy (but do NOT peek if it hasn't been long enough, otherwise the acrylic will dry all over again once the air hits and the process will start over). After they have softened, you should be able to ';slide'; or ';push'; the acrylics off with an orange stick or something like it, without damaging your nail beds!! Other methods can rip off your nail beds, cause infection and overall be very painful. The only other step with this method is to make sure you still use a good hand moisturizer afterwards, as the acetone is very drying.

I just found all of this out after going to a salon to get my old nails taken off and having them PRYED off by the Tech. there. I didn't think this was the only way people could possibly take off their nails, so I did a little research. We do NOT have to sacrifice our natural nail health for enhancements! If you ever go to a salon and they pry your old nails off, I suggest you ask them to stop and leave to find a place that will preserve your nail health!

Also, beware of the scams associated with acrylics. ';Solar'; is very popular in relation to acrylics, but it is really an original brand of acrylics. I'm not sure of the exact difference in quality between that brand and ';other'; acrylic brands, but ';Solar'; nails are not a special service, so do not pay a ridiculous amount more for these nails. Also, make sure that the chemicals your salon uses are in original containers (not hand-labeled). They may be the same substance with a different name to trick you into paying more AND you need to watch out for harmful chemicals (like MMA you can read about in my listed source) that are cheaper for salons but less healthy for you.

And never settle if someone at a salon pricks or cuts you while doing your nails with whatever piece of equipment (an obvious doing or one that you point out) and ignores it! I also had burning in a hangnail when I had my nails done but the tech. didn't even realize the chemical going into my cuticle - I thought it was just something I had to deal with, assuming they knew what they were doing. Find legitimate salons (also able to be searched at my listed source) and go by the motto found there: Acrylics don't harm nails, bad techs do!How can get rid of the fake nails???
You can soak the nails in acetone nail polish remover. Also, most stores that sell nail care products (grocery stores, drug stores, etc) also sell a product that is a small tub of acetone with brushes inside to remove them.
Regular nail polish will dissolve them!
hammer your fingers
Acetone, soak them for about nine minutes, they should come off easily. If they don't, then soak them longer.
Get nail polish remover WITH acetone...soak your fingertips in it for awhile. You should be able to peal them off but it may take a few tries of soaking, peeling, soaking peeling.
buy some acetone nail remover from Wal-Mart. That should do the trick. Soak them for about ten min.
PULL THEM OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just let them grow out until they start lifting and then use nail clippers to start prying them off. It will hurt a little but at least it is free.
just rip them off, what are ya so scared of? Pain?
Soak them in a bowl of acetone nail polish remover for about 5-8 minutes, thay should come off fairly easy!
use acetone..but i would have them taken off and never put back on. Acrylic is so bad for your nails. Just soak them in acetone and they should come off
After soaking them in acetone nail polish remover, try using an emery board and file gently over the nail, this will remove whats left. Take care not to file down to the natural nail bed. Finish off by massaging some cuticle cream over the whole nails. Good luck.
Go to the salon. You have to sit them in a bowl of acetone under a lamp for about a 45 minutes or so, depending on how long you've had them on. It should be about 12.00. If you can't afford it, just wait for them to break off on their own, but they'll get really gross in the meantime.
soak them in acetone. Or better yet go to the salon and have them soak them off so as to not damage the nails beneath
Use Acetone nail polish remover, put it in a glass or bowl, soak your nails in it for about 15 minutes, and gently using a nail file, file it off.. Repeat until all is off.. Also cut any off the tops of your nails w/ clippers...
