How do you get fake nails OFF!?

I got my nails done recently and I want them off now! I had them for a long time and they are starting to grow, so you can see my real nail and it looks gross. HOW DO I GET THESE OFF? I didn't do them myself, one of those nail people did it. Please help?!How do you get fake nails OFF!?
Go back to the salon and have them take them off. How do you get fake nails OFF!?
you can get them ';filled in'; and the person will add new layers to cover your nails and clip off your nails underneath and make it look nice. You don't have t get them off just cause the nail is showing.but if you want to, you have to go to the nail place and they soak your nails in there for about an hour in a chemical before it comes off, so don't try it at home because you will be in pain if you try to pull them off.
Hey rachelle in heels cd whatever. You are wrong dude. The proper term is NOT false, or fake nails. It is 'nail enhancements.' Learn the proper terminology before you come on here and try to tell people about something you obviously know very little about. Also, you said 'original' nails. What are those? The term to use is 'natural' nails. And less damaging to your 'false' nails? What do you do? Save them or something? Wow...

Now, to answer your question, sorry!

You need to soak your nails in 100% pure acetone. No, hot water is not going to do anything to remove them, and nail polish remover - with acetone, is simply not strong enough to dissolve the acrylic. True, it will work, but the proper way is to use pure acetone. BTW, acetone is acetone no matter where you buy it. You can get it at home depot, or in a beauty supply store - it is still the exact same chemical. Its just labeled differently, but it is still pure acetone. There is nothing special about the pure acetone you buy in drug stores and so on. Like I said, it's the same thing as home depot or lowe's pure acetone.
You can take off fake nails yourself... however, it's always better going to a professional salon, what will surely give you the right treatment.

1. Get a nail clippers and cut your nails as far as you can.

2. File off any gel or topcoat on your nails to the acetone works better.

3. Soak cotton balls in the acetone solution.

4. Lay one soaked cotton ball over each of your fingernails. If you don't have enough, do a few at a time and soak the cotton balls in the solution again and repeat for the nails that did not get removed.

5. Put some tape or foil around your nails to keep the cotton ball in place. Keep it there for 20 minutes to make sure that the process works.

6. After the full time has passed, gently peel the tape off.

7. Scrape the nail off with an orangewood stick.

8. Buff off the residue with a nail buffer.

9. Rub lotion on immediately, since acetone is so strong of a chemical. Your hands will dry out so apply oils and/or lotions frequently.

First off,

you'll need:

a bowl (big enough to fit your fingers)

acetone/very strong nail polish remover.

You start by dipping your nails into the bowl with the nail polish remover inside, leave it in there until they melt (nails will soon come off because all the glue under is melted by the nail polish remover)..

Try to keep it as long as possible.. try picking them off after 5 minutes or when they feel softer.

xx
Adding to the solution re the inquiry that you, plus one comment...

You are attempting to remove FALSE nails and NOT FAKE Nails... There is a difference.. False is a more subtle word as versus FAKE..

Do you know people who have FALSE teeth or FAKE teeth...? And if people gain access / trust etc under ';bogus'; pretenses are they there under FALSE pretense or FAKE pretense..... See what I mean...?

Now for the removal of FALSE nails, as many suggested, soak your fingers in Acetone nail polish remover..

I can fully concure with this as I'm a c/d - t/v and it's VERY OFTEN - Nails on - Nails off and this is the quickest method, and the less damaging to both original nails, and a set of false ones..

Enjoy,

What I did was soften them with nail polish remover,

Then I went around the edges and slowly shifted them

So as not to break the nail or scratch it,

But just enough to start moving it around.

Eventually, they will be very movable and will either slide off

Or you can pry them up gently.

Hope I helped! =D

Oh and I have a question for anyone who knows science.

Thanks!
The best, safest way is to go back to the shop where you got them and have them take them off.

If you're going to insist on doing it yourself, soak them in acetone. Don't pry or pull. That will just rip your real nails off. They are thin enough as it is at this point. You don't want them any thinner or more damaged.
You need to soak them in nail polish remover for a long time. Then use the tip of a nail file to pop them off. It will probably hurt and you need to be very careful or you will damage your nails. The safest way is to go back to the nail place and ask for them to be removed. There is a fee like $10.
go back to the nail place cause they take them off for you.

you can soak them in nail polish remover

um keep the nails till they grow cause eventually the fake nail will slide off.(my mom did that and it worked)

dont rip them off cause you will be in terrible pain
Buy acetone which they sell at cvs put it in a old bowl that you would never use again. Then heat it up in the microwave for 20 sec. Put both hands in bowl and put a towel over hands to keep in heat. Then the nails will dissolve. In between wash hands to get off excessive acrylic then put them back in bowl until removed. This is the fastest way. NAIL POLISH REMOVER WON'T GET THEM OFF SINCE IS DOESNT HAVE ACETONE.
The best way to do it is to have the salon remove them.

However, applying nailpolish remover around the edges may loosen it up.

Dipping them in COLD COLD COLD water for a while can help also, they may fall right off! Water is a must when trying to remove them!

Then the best way I found was to get them off, was put them in water, and put my nail underneath the edge and pop them off.

Good Luck! :]

Answer mine please!: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AnjivEevXW2KNrk_lwNR.d_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20080905193231AAHG95X
er try getting one of those fake nail removing kits from a beauty store near you. Or you could maybe try soaking ur nails in hot water for a while. i dunno jus file ur real nails down a bit or sommet or go to the nail place and ask them fo advise.
soak them in nail polish remover,it takes a while. The acrylic will soften up and you can start filing it off. Dont try to just pry them off,it will ruin your real nails, and hurt pretty bad.

Make sure you use the kind with acetone
Soak them in nailpolish remover.

I took mine of that way! I only had them on for a day or two. It took awhile; they soaked, and i had to pry them off then they soaked again.

It might sound harsh but it didnt really hurt. Just took awhile!
You can soak then in water for a while... Are they real? like you got them done at a proffesional place? Or are they just the kind that you can buy?
Buy Tips B Gone Acrylic and Artifical Nail Remover found at WalMart. Soak your nails in the solution until they get soft then you rub them off with a paper towel. It will take a long time, but it works.
I used nail polish remover and if that doesn't work, go and try and find a fake nail remover at the drugstore.
stick your nail in between the corner of the fake and the real nail and just 'pry off'.

be careful.
use finger nail polish remover

but make sure u get the kind that says it has acetone in it

the bottle will say it

cuz the other kind really wont work

= )
soak them in nail polish remover, itll soften the acrylic.. dont go to the salon , they cut them and rip them off.. ouch lol
Soak them in nail polish remover that contains acetone
sandpaper
soak them in nail polish remover and try to gently massage them off. it might hurt a little but if you do it well, they should come off easily
try soaking your nails in acetone for 10 mins or so... if that doesnt work, then go back to the people who did them, and have them take it off
Soke them in nail polish remover until they come off, or will peel off easily
Soak them in nail polish remover and kinda pry them off with a cuticle pusher
run them under HOT water for about 2 minutes and then they will start to peel ofby themselves... but u have to help them...
soak in hot water,

take a hot shower and while ur in there,

snap your nails while they get soft.
